raggedyanndy:

I work in a children’s clothing store, and I like to think my presence there has done some good for some kids - like seeing a fat woman being unabashedly fat and wearing tight clothes or wearing stripes might make some of them feel a little better about their bodies

especially when it’s a chubby girl with a skinny mom, and the mom looks exasperated while the daughter looks miserable

or when a mom won’t let her chubby daughter try on skinny jeans, and my coworkers and I patiently explain that if you get the right size, skinny jeans look good on everyone

or when a parent/guardian/grandparent looks embarrassed or disapproving and makes some comment about “baby fat,” and I just turn to the kid and ask what they like to wear

I like to think it does some good.

This exactly how I feel working in an ice cream shop with a bunch of skinny girls. Like whenever a parent sits there and...
